Greetings from the Habitat Crew in Florida

We finished our work at the Habitat sites, had a wonderful pizza dinner and lots of good memories of our week in Jacksonville. Although the week was hot and humid, we worked through it all, even a few sudden rain showers, to get the work done. After cleaning our selves, we set about cleaning our Jacksonville home, leaving it in better shape than we found it. Living in a low income neighborhood was an eye opening experience for us all. We saw first hand the poverty that makes the work of Habitat for Humanity such an important program all over the world. We are glad to be a small part of the work done in the Lord's Name providing good homes to deserving families.

Early Saturday morning we left for Orlando and Disney World. We plan to spend two days enjoying the many things Disney has to offer before we start out for home one Monday, August 6. May God keep us as we travel.

Greetings From Jacksonville.

We have been working hard in the heat and humidity on three different houses. We sided on the first day, nearly getting done before the day was over. Our second day found us laying sod and interior painting in an other house. Our third day we were back to siding and were making good progress before getting rained out. When it isn't hot and humid here it is raining. The kids are working hard and the Habitat people are impressed by how much they accomplish in a day. We know this is always the case as that is what Greene kids do, they work hard and get a lot of quality work done.

Our devotions each day have centered around the Marks of Discipleship. So far we have talked about prayer and worship as what disciples do when they are connected with Jesus. We begin and close each day with prayer centered on the services of Matins and Compline. We have one more day on the job with Habitat and then we are on to Orlando and DisneyWorld. We will spend two days enjoying the Magic Kingdom before we hit the road for home. We continue to pray for God's love and blessing on us as we work and travel.

Greetings from Jacksonville! We are staying in a Habitat Home while we are working at the site. Monday is a free day to explore the area, see the zoo and get some beach time in. The weather is hot and humid, but we are doing just fine. We will be working on homes that need finishing work, painting, landscaping, and siding.

Before we left Redeemer Lutheran in Columbia, SC, we attended Sunday School and worship. The believers at Redeemer we very gracious to us and we enjoyed our time with them.

We will be busy during the day, learning what it is to take up the cross for others as our Lord did for us.

Our 2007 Habitat for Humanity trip began very early on Friday, July 27 as we departed from Greene. We had a very long day of driving ahead of us, 900 miles to Chattanooga, TN. Needless to say we did not do much sight seeing. We drove in off and on rain until arriving at our goal for the evening. Our plan for day two was to white water raft down the Ocoee River. The rafting was great, some of the best we have encountered in recent years. Everyone enjoyed it, from the first timers to the old hands who have done this many times. All agreed it would be a white water trip we would do again.

400 hundred miles down the road finds us at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Columbia, SC for our second night. We were greeted with warm smiles, home made lasagna and a comfortable place to sleep. We will worship with the believers at Redeemer on Sunday before heading out to Jacksonville, FL for our Habitat work. As we travel we take time for morning and evening prayer as well as reflecting Jesus' call to be disciples serving Him and our neighbor. Keep us in your prayers as we remember you in ours.
