Country Time 2006
On Sunday, September 18th, 2006, St. Peter hosted its annual Country Time celebration. With a scarecrow theme and lots of fall decorations, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Family style serving meant heaping bowls of green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, and salads. Each table of guests also shared baskets of homemade dinner rolls and warmed platters of roasted turkey.
For those that still had room for something sweet, assorted cakes, bars, and pies were the perfect filler treat.
The annual “Country Store” offered a fabulous array of garden fresh produce, homemade pies, canned kraut and various preserves.
Additionally, Raffle tickets were sold for $1.00 each and participants selected from dozens of donated items. Local businesses contributed some wonderful savings certificates and talented hands crafted some beautiful keepsakes. A special thanks for the generosity of these individuals and businesses!
A special item in this year's drawing was a quilt by the women of the Mashiah foundation in Jos, Nigeria, West Africa. Mashiah is an organization that helps HIV/AIDS infected women and children. Part of their plight is to assist in establishing a source of financial independence. Using their creativity and sewing skills, Mashiah women sew extraordinary works of art which can then be sold. In turn, the money that is earned provides income for these women and their families. If you have interest in purchasing a quilt from the women of Mashiah, please phone our church office at (641) 816-5531 and we will pass along the necessary contact information.
