Sunday School Open House
On Sunday, August 20th children and their families were able to visit their Sunday school classrooms. They were greeted by enthusiastic teachers and encouraged to participate in a variety of craft projects with classmates.
Nursery classes put together foam crosses with multicolored hearts that symbolized God’s love for us by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. First grade assembled “Good Shepherd” projects with foam sheep. Second graders designed bees as reminders of the Be-attitudes they would soon be studying. Third graders were able to paint ornaments that could be hung in their windows to show them the spectacular light that guides their faith. Fourth grade made foam projects with “His Got the Whole World in His Hands” theme. Fifth, Sixth, and JH classes were able to design special markers for their Bibles or cross necklaces made from two nails.
The fall open house was a great time for children to meet their teachers and become familiar with their classrooms, but it was also a wonderful opportunity for teachers to meet the parents of the children they teach. People from the congregation were also pleased at the chance to tour the Sunday school classrooms and see the environment in which our children are taught the stories of Christ Jesus.
Thanks to everyone who helped prepare for this event and also to all those who took part in the open house. It was a wonderful start to the 2006-2007 Sunday school year of fun and learning about God’s love.
