Veggie Tale Family Event Great Success!
On Sunday, May 7th over forty children, parents, and grandparents gathered for an afternoon with Sheerluck Holmes and the Veggie Tale crew. The event began with eight fun stations for the children to visit and receive prizes. Some sat for face painting and tattoos while others tried their luck at fishing and bowling. Many little artists made brightly hued bead bracelets and colored pictures of Sheerluck or the Asparagus of La Mancha. Others challenged their brains at matching numbers in BINGO and guessing the objects missing in mystery pillow. After games, families participated in a group scavenger hunt.
Sheerluck Holmes needed lots of detective help in solving the mystery of the missing keys. Therefore children listened closely to clues that led them to hidden keys which taught lessons on how to be a good friend. They learned the importance of listening and sharing, being kind and patient as well as generous and loving. The children were shown that working together means everyone wins! Eventually, their clues led them to the viewing of a new Veggie Tale movie, Sheerluck Holmes and the Golden Ruler. Popcorn was provided by Lincoln Savings Bank and everyone enjoyed cold glasses of lemonade.
The event concluded with family drawings for inflatable beach balls and magic frisbees. Sheerluck posed for pictures with some of the children and everyone received a Larry or Bob balloon along with a bag full of take-home activities for continued family fun.
This event was sponsored by the Group to Rebuild Biloxi.
The next Veggie Tale Event will be coming on Sunday, July 16th. Pre-registration will be required and space will be limited so watch this site, the Greene Recorder and Allison Tribune for another chance to join the fun!
