On Sunday morning, February 11th, St. Peter proudly hosted
Annie: The Dog with a Tale
Susan Lawrence is a fourth grade teacher and professional storyteller who resides with her husband in Carlisle, Iowa. Annie is a beautiful yellow Lab that the Lawrences' adopted shortly after a cluster of severe storms devestated their area of the state. And the tale they shared with us ... it had twists and turns, heroes and one very brave dog.
During Fellowship hour at St. Peter, adults and children alike sat mesmorized. We listened as Susan recanted Annie's courageous fight for survival and the details of her dramatic rescue from the remains of a collapsed farm house. Susan shared with us the calling God placed in her heart when she first saw Annie's picture and her eventual conviction to welcome her into the Lawrence home.
After the presentation, Annie demonstrated several tricks she has learned while living in the Lawrence household. Obviously pleased with every Milkbone reward, she rolled over, fetched shoes, and even said her bedtime prayers. Best of all, Annie sat patiently so each child was able to personally interact with her.
It was evident by all the smiling faces that Annie's story was a fantastic tale of God's precious love and life-saving grace. For this reason, keep watching St. Peter postings. Maybe Annie and Susan will be back!
